Just a reminder:
Under state law, when a school bus activates its flashing red lights and extends its stop arm, all vehicles—regardless of direction of travel—are required to come to a complete stop, unless on a divided highway separated by a physical barrier. These laws are in place to protect students as they enter and exit the bus, and compliance is not optional.
It is essential that we not only teach safety, but also demonstrate it through our actions. Failure to stop for a bus with flashing red lights can result in significant fines, points on a driver’s license, and most importantly, can place students at serious risk.
I ask each of you to remain vigilant, especially during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal times. Please allow extra time in your commute so you are never tempted to rush through a bus stop situation.
If you have any questions about traffic safety expectations or district procedures, please do not hesitate to reach out.
