The City of Hart has passed a new ordinance regulating the use of motor-assisted scooters, pocket bikes, and mini-motorbikes on public property.
🔴 KEY POINTS TO KNOW:
⚠️ Where You CAN Ride
• ONLY on designated bike paths or trails
• NOT allowed on streets, sidewalks, parks, or public property
🚫 Who CANNOT Ride
• Children are NOT allowed to ride motor-assisted scooters on public property (except bike trails)
• Mini-motorbikes & pocket bikes are NOT allowed anywhere on public property
🪖 HELMETS ARE REQUIRED
• All children & minors MUST wear a helmet when riding
• Parents can be held responsible if rules are not followed
💵 PENALTIES
• Violations may result in fines up to $500
• Helmet violations: up to $50 (first offense) / $100 (additional offenses)
👨👩👧 PARENTS:
You may be cited if your child is operating these vehicles in restricted areas or without a helmet
📅 Effective Date: Immediately after passage (April 13, 2026)
