Turkey Teacher
During the week before Thanksgiving, the National Honor Society sponsored a turkey teacher contest. NHS members posted a picture of a turkey outside each classroom and sold feathers to be added to the turkey for 10 cents. For 25 cents a person could take a feather off a turkey and place it on another one. National Honor Society members sold the feathers, kept track of the number sold (in case of stolen or inappropriately added feathers), and taped the feathers on daily. On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving they announced the name of the teacher with the most feathers--the Turkey Teacher—Mr. Mark Castillo, with 263 feathers. The second place Turkey Teacher was Mrs. Lisa Rivera with 209 feathers and in third place was Ms. Amy Carrasco with 186 feathers. Mr. Castillo was presented with a pumpkin cookie jar filled with fresh baked cookies. The National Honor Society raised $142 which was used to give two families a $70 gift certificate to Food Jet for their Thanksgiving Meal.
